Kauai's weather is near perfect year-round with daytime temperatures ranging from the mid 70's to the mid 80's, slightly warmer in the late summer. The northeast trade winds provide refreshing breezes. Rain showers usually fall in the evening and early morning hours, predominantly over the mountain ranges. The temperature of the ocean ranges from 68 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer months.

Renting a Car: Some people just prefer to hang in Kapa'a - everything you need is within walking distance and you can take a cab from the airport, about 15 minutes, and it's pretty cheap. While you don't necessarily need a car, it is advised if you're interested in visiting the rest of the island. The airport has rental desks with most of the major companies.

Directions to Rentals:

From the Lihu'e International Airport Terminal enter Ahukini Road and go approximately 0.22 miles to the intersection of Ahukini Road and HI-51/ Kapule Highway.
Turn RIGHT onto HI-51/ Kapule Highway and go approximately 1.70 miles to the intersection of HI-51/ Kapule Highway and HI-56/ Kuhio Highway.
Veer RIGHT as HI-51/ Kapule Highway continues as HI-56/ Kuhio Highway.
Stay on HI-56/ Kuhio Highway; you will reach the city of Kapa'a after approximately 4 miles.
Stay on HI-56/ Kuhio Highway for approximately another 1.8 miles looking right for Makaha Road. It will be just past the Safeway store on the left and the Chevron gas station on the right.
Turn RIGHT on Makaha Road go 0.12 miles towards the beach. The house in on the left side at the corner of Makaha Road and Moanakai Street.
