We loved this place! Best location on the island, close to everything and literally a stone's throw away from a great beach. Kapaa has good restaurants and is a place where locals still live, not just haoles ;-). The house is perfect for a family. We spent a lot of time just lounging around on the porch, watching the coconut trees sway in the breeze.
My wife and daughter at the beach near the house. Look how CLEAR that water is! |
We spent a lot of time on the porch of the house, watching the ocean. |

What a peaceful location, Kauai is definitely the island to go to! We really enjoyed the ocean view, the morning sunrises, and BBQing on the porch!
We mostly just came to Kauai to get away from the chaos of everyday life, and staying at the house on the beach was exactly what we were looking for.
We miss Kauai already!

Wonderful times at the "Big Kahuna". Beautiful morning sunrise and evening sunsets. We were out on the deck with our coffee, the roosters and the neighborhood cat watching the sun rise. So peaceful and relaxing, it felt like home.
The outdoor shower was great in the evening after a day at the beach. Very private and warm. This is a place to unwind and just relax. We would definitely love to stay here again in the future. Aloha

We had an awesome time staying in the Love Shack! Last time we stayed in the Big Kahuna and brought the whole family. This time it was just the two of us and we really appreciated the secluded place to stay!

We had such a great time, thank you for letting us use your vacation rental! We cannot wait to return to Kauai and hope to stay again at your place. The ocean view from the deck and throughout the house was beautiful.
Every morning we enjoyed coffee and breakfast on the deck and watched the sunrise! We walked and took bike rides, some days we would pack a cooler full of ice, drinks, and lunch and we took off for an adventure. We found waterfalls, hiking trails, and secret spots to explore and had an amazing time.
Our first night we had Sushi at Kintaro (great place!) up the street on the main highway, and another night we prepared sushi in the house! We BBQ'd some nights and picked up a garlic brushed crust pepperoni pizza from Brick Oven Pizza (near Kintaro, across the street) ...so good!
We watched a football game and had drinks at the Olympic Cafe(2nd story- great for people watching!), in downtown Kapa'a, and as for night life we preferred to listen to music and enjoy the deck at the house.
What a great vacation, we will be back! Oh, by the way, we got engaged the first day we were there on the beach in front of the house!

We loved our family vacation in Kauai. The house was perfect! We had plenty of space. It was way better than small hotel rooms. The island is beautiful and we just enjoyed everything we did, from hiking the Na Pali Coast to snorkeling to playing the ukele! Jennifer was always very helpful with our questions and made the stay easy.

My family enjoyed our stay at the Big Kahuna so much. My daughter loved "baby's beach." We could have done without the roosters though. LOL! Everything was right there and we liked being in the middle of the north side and west side. Made our trips short and enjoyable.

Beside visiting Honolulu Oahu, we also flew to the very relaxing and tranquil and the least commercially developed of the Hawaiian Islands, Kauai. The island is very interesting. It has a lot of places in secluded spots. And it looks just like the island on LOST, an American drama television series. It would not be complete if we don’t mention the natural beauty that the island possesses with beautiful waterfalls. Everywhere is green. Life in general is more laid-back on Kauai. The beach is calmer. The climate is quite "rainforest-y" all the way around, and it will make you feel that you are not in America. It will be best suited for couples or a romantic honeymoon. We got the luxury to stay at Mr. E.’s beach house. The house locates in a very nice area. We felt like we were living in a rural area. Another interesting thing from what we have seen was that it seems like the chickens rule the island. It is so very common to see beautiful colors of those chickens prancing all around and eating whatever they can find on the island. They crow at night, dawn and throughout the day.

What an amazing experience! We were able to escape to Kauai for a girls week away and that is what we got, and much more. It's like we all were able to re-charge here! I personally cannot wait to plan another trip back next year! I came here with my sister and our mom and we laughed so hard, we cried on the beach our first night(with 3 plastic glasses and a box of wine we snuck down there!)
We didn't even mind the chickens! There are more chickens and pigs on the island that people! Think about that one!
I was scared I'll admit it, but loved it afterward... we went ZIP LINING in Poipi and it was a first for all of us. I will do it again, wherever we get the chance!
We went snorkeling at Lidgate Park and saw 1,000's and 1,090's of fish! You must go since its only 2 miles south of here on the 56 (toward Lihue), you will see the signs.
We rented a car and drove up to Tunnels Beach, the waves are right out of a movie! I hear snorkeling is amazing June-August.
Downtown Kapa'a is fun for shopping and if you stop, go into Pono Market and pick up a Box Lunch of an assortment of poki. Poki means chopped. They have fresh fish and it sells fast, stop in before 2pm.
We went to Kintaros for dinner Friday night. The best sushi I've ever had! Try their Bali Hi roll, it's my favorite, and a favorite of the locals. Kintaros is right on the main highway, you will see it on the way toward Lidgate Park.
We went to a Luau (that was a bit embarrassing...) but well worth it. The Coconut Grove Market Place in Kapa'a has a great one at the Resort Quest Hotel. But keep in mind if you pay for "good" seating, you will be called up on stage to dance like Shakira with your hips. That's the only way they described how to move and shake to get the audience moving to the beat!
It was a great week! We had a lot of fun and made some amazing memories!

Dear Ed & Natalie,
We had such a great trip staying at the Love Shack in September 2007. We just wanted to say thank you for letting us use your cozy cottage home, it really made our stay in Kauai memorable! We did a lot of research and found that your units were the most reasonable that we found, which allowed us take excursions and make the most of our time!
Baby beach is beautiful and the baby really enjoyed the water as you can see from pictures we posted on your website.
Kauai is beautiful and we will remember this trip for a lifetime!
Thanks again!
The Hale Family.
